Aluminum foil has a shiny surface that reflects radiant heat away from the surface, reducing heat transfer.It has a low emissivity, meaning it does not emit much heat, further reducing heat transfer.
Higher density EPE foams have higher R-values because they are less permeable and more insulating. The overall R-value increases with the thickness of the foam.
