This causes the soil to become liquefied, reducing frictional resistance between the pile and the surrounding soil. The pile is then driven into the soil using the excavator's downward force, vibrating pile hammer, and the weight of the pile itself. When extracting the piles, the excavator's lifting force is used in conjunction with vibration to pull the pile out. The amount of excitation force required by the pile driving machinery is determined by factors such as soil type, condition, moisture content, and the type of pile being used.
